Founded in 1996, Washington Commercial Painters has partnered with Turman Commercial Painters and has grown into one of the largest paint contractors in the country. Below is of history of both company’s achievements and landmark projects from the past 50 years.

1972 – E. Turman & Company Issued Contractor’s License.

Ed Turman starts E. Turman & Company in the Bay Area and incorporates the next year.

1985 – First large painting contract

We win our first large public space project for the grand opening of Cache Creek Casino in Brooks, CA.

1988 – Begin work on Oracle Headquarters – Redwood City, CA.

Oracle Headquarters becomes our largest interior painting project to date and marks the beginning of our long association with the technology company.

1992 – Company becomes merit shop.

Turman Commercial Painters adopts the merit shop philosophy – that work should be awarded on the basis of qualifications, performance and price – in an open marketplace.

1998 – Restore Sir Francis Drake Hotel, San Francisco, CA.

We restore the iconic San Francisco historic landmark to its original glory.

1999 – Complete 82 Starbucks stores throughout the west.

Our first multi-state project, we provide Starbucks quality products and services that are in-line with their strict brand identity guidelines.

2000 – Dave Theobald named CEO. TCP Acquires Washington Commercial Painters.

Dave Theobald becomes company President and CEO and leads the organization with a commitment to customer service and integrity.

2002 – Complete 50 Target stores in five western states.

We hit our target and complete 50 stores in a month.

2007 – Oregon Commercial Painters is founded. Complete 360 AT&T stores.

We expand our Northwest presence and open our OCP office in the Portland market. We paint 360 AT&T stores in eight weeks across the western states.

2008 – Complete Oracle Arena roof – Oakland, CA.

Our first of many sports arena projects– seal and paint the roof and use old world techniques to recreate the Oracle logo.

2009 – Implement 50 state strategy. Open Charlotte and Dallas locations.

Opening the Charlotte office gives the company coast to coast reach and allows our national clients a single point of contact for all of their projects.

2010 – Open Denver and Columbus locations.

The addition of these two offices in the mid-section of the country allow us to offer our services in all of the 48 contiguous states.

2011 – Obtain contractor’s license in Hawaii enabling Turman to work in all 50 states.

We become the only commercial painter approved and licensed to work in all 50 states.

2012 – Acquire Coast2Coast Signs, Houston, TX.

The acquisition allows us to grow our capabilities in the signage and graphics disciplines. Our Houston shop specializes in illuminated signage.

2013 – Complete 2,500 Prologis locations in one year.

From coast to coast we meet every deadline and deliver quality craftsmanship.

2016 – Complete CenturyLink Field roof project.

In addition to sealing the roof, we were charged with refreshing the roof graphics. A total of 1,200 gallons were used on the three month job.

Coast2Coast Signs NW

2017 – Coast2Coast NW opens.

As a follow-up to our acquisition of Coast2Coast signs in 2012, we open Coast2Coast Signs NW offices in the Portland and Seattle markets.


2020 –
Turman wins Pivot Award for Covid-19 Face mask program.

Like most businesses across the country, Turman Commercial Painters is impacted by the Covid-19 Pandemic. We decide to use the opportunity to make face masks for our community and end up winning a Pivot Award!

2021 – Washington Commercial Painters celebrates 25 Year Anniversary.

Founded in 1996, WCP has emerges as the leader in painting and graphics in the Northwest and across the country.

2022 – Turman celebrates 50 Year Anniversary.

In the past half century we have grown to be one of the largest paint contractors in the country. We look forward to the next 50 years!
